A new first
There are a lot of things that I will remember in the world of firsts for the kids. First time they walked. First day of school. First time they did park run without crying and now it was the first time they saw snow.
We left the wonder of Disneyland and woke up early to a wake up call from Mickey Mouse to undertake our journey from Disneyland to banff. We did the cheapo westjet flight from LA to Calgary. Pay for food. Pay for luggage and pay for a smile with your service. Charlie made a comment that I shouldn't have paid for the cheapie flight because there was no lounge. I was going to say "welcome to the real world" but his world is not real because he's having a white christmas!
As we flew into Calgary the kids went crazy with excitement to see the snow capped mountains. We had 1.5 hour drive to banff and the excitement of seeing snow from the car but not being able to touch it was almost the perfect punishment for bad behaviour.
Once we arrived at the wonderful banff springs hotel the snow at the conceriege drop off point was quickly scooped up into a sloshy snowball. And the first snowball fight begins. A quick walk into town. A visit to lulu lemon (not much cheaper) and Banff was done.
Today we did a guided wilderness walk (georgie didn't wake the grizzly bears, although she tried) a gondola ride to the top of the mountain and we are now at the hotel movies watching the grinch who stole christmas. With snow about to fall outside...it's starting to feel a lot like Christmas.
