A day to forget or a day to remember

We are now at Hvar an island about 2 hours off split.  There are 3 groups of people who come here, the romantic types typically honeymooners, then there is the single set - lots of partying, swimming, bars on the cliffs etc and then there is us the grizwalls - your nightmare family if you are staying at this fairly nice hotel, especially if this is your honeymoon.  The kids have discovered the spa hot tubs and love to stare out the romantic couples enjoying some peace and quiet until they freak them out into leaving the hot tubs just for us.  The island is specaticular and the hotel accomodation and food are all really good.

Yesterday we hired a little runabout boat for the day to explore.  It was good to leave the car at the hotel - as any sort of driving has been a bit stressful  We set out on a fairly calm morning and went to see what we could find.  Our first stop was st clements - as beautiful as it was, it was disappointing with the amount of rubbish on the beach - so much plastic and glass  that we couldn't swim there.  On we went.   The boat trip to our next stop for lunch was a bit rocky - but still not too bad.  We enjoyed a lovely lunch of fresh seafood and started to enjoy the surroundings.  Djete (child) No 1 - started to talk to me enthusatically about going home to australia - while she has enjoyed the trip she was really starting to miss family and friends.  She is constantly concerend that we are lost (dont know why we give that impression) and really wants the security and sameness of being back at home.  I on the other hand - am not counting down the days to return in a happy way - but counting them down as to how much more we can fit in with such little time left.  I told Djete No1 - that you need to explore and experience to shape you as a person and even if you like home and the secuirty of it - you need to get out there and enjoy as much as you can.  With that little bit of advice on board, we went to the beach - but it was cold and the wind had picked up, so we decied to head back right away.  Needless to say the journey back was not good, and the 30 minute boat ride felt like an eternity.  The outcome of the trip was obviously all good and we are safely back home, but at times I did not think that.  At one stage I started to wonder if Djete No 1 was right and maybe we shouldn't have be so adventurous.  Back in one piece and a little wet - its a great story which the djetsa are already retelling with gutso about how daddy got us back to shore safely.  Back on land, we headed straight to the hot tubs but the word must have got out about us - as they were all empty.  it was good to home - even if our home is the hotel.  Dovidjenja for now.
