The love boat
we have arrived in Croatia. The ferry trip was fun. I felt like we were on an episode of the Love Boat except it was in Croatian. there was a disco, a casino and a cafe that was full of croatian women with strudel, cheese, olives and proscuitto. we managed to avoid the croatian music, and the cabins were fairly snug but the bambinis enjoyed the novelty of the bunk beds. Didi and Baka nearly kissed the ground when we arrived and couldn't stop smiling. bambini No 2 who burst into tears as we left italy to the sounds of "Dancing Queen" from the ferry disco - announced after 30 mins of being in croatia that it was better than italy.
we are now in Trigor which is a very pretty town outside split. we have discovered the croatian side of "shell be right mate". Z went to the car hire place but I had his license and identification - they said "don't worry we don't need that". we enquired about hiring a boat we asked if we needed a boat license they said "don't worry you don't need one of those". The apartment we are in, is a fair way from the town which is not good, but just down the road is the most beautiful beach we have been to so far. the water is crystal clear and freezing, but there is a bar and coffee shop right there - what more could you ask for. the stones are really sharp on the bottom of the ocean bed, so we enquired about shoes that some people wear in the surf. the owner of the bar, said they were only for silly tourists. we have become "silly tourists"and bought the shoes and now refer to them as our "stupid silly shoes", when we wear them. In my next life I am going to import the "silly stupid shoes" because they are great for the beach and also come back to croatia as a dentist as there are a lot of people here without teeth! apparently it gets worse the further north we go.
tomorrow we are doing an overnighter to dubrovnik - it seemed a shame to be so close but not get to it - so a slight change of plans for the better. I can't spell the croatian way for goodbye yet - so I'll stick to Ciao for now.

it all sounds magic. cant imagine why you dont want to be here to battle the school holiday crowds. Sue and her bambini arrive tomorrow only lots of rain on the way here.
ReplyDeleteThe food sounds like heaven and no one to complain about the "black bits"! Take care
