we have arrived

we made it - we survived the flight, we survived the food on the flight and we survived the rush of excitement when our names were called over the loud speaker with the glimmer of hope of a business class upgrade, only to be queried why we only hand hand luggage.  Our hotel is wonderful right in the heart of the St Germain district and its more wonderful because it has a heavy duty strength hair dryer that sounds like a plane is taking off whenever I use it.  Our first day has been as I predicted my tummy hurts from eating too much and my head hurts because we drank too much and my hands didn't hurt from the shopping bags just yet because not many shops are open on a sunday - but I did manage to get my first purchase under my belt - a lovely hat.  not very sun safe according to z but very nice all the same.  we had breakfast on the champs elysee and introduced z to what a macaroon was (he doesn't watch masterchef).  Followed it up with a walk through the markets on rue de mofftard - a cheese platter and rose, (hold the cheese platter).  Lots of wandering and a nice  run (sorry cant help myself and I had to try and stay awake) through Jardin du Luxembourg where all of Paris seems to go on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  My french is improving less grazi and more merci.  au revoir for now
