24 hours in Rome
Once you get somewhere you soon forget about the screeching baby on the plane, lack of good food or good movies the vomit that was not that messy and only spilled a little bit, the women next to us who had OCD re cleanliness and I think nearly threw herself off the plane when she saw the hole in the vomit bag but enough of that once you finally reach your destination all of those memories of the plane trip are erased. We arrived late on a Saturday night to the sounds of crowds and opera singer buskers outside our hotel room. As I opened the window to soak in the noisy Rome atmosphere my husband reached for his noise canceelling earphones. We set off in search of pizza pasta or anything to hit the spot and found a great homey restaurant that served wonderful pizza pasta and red wine. Everyone was happy. A stop on the way home to our first gelati strawberry, mars bar, and cookies and choc chip. it was a good first day.
The next morning we were met by the wonderful fabio who took us a wonderful kids walking tour of Rome pantheon collesum, ancient ruins we heard and saw it all. He also told us about the most famous tourist sites for cats! As the kids went wow how cute I went yuk how gross. I have never been a big fan of tours and tour guides but when we went straight through the gates as we passed the longest queues I have ever seen, and caught magic lifts instead of stairs as he argued with security that the babmbinis were too tired for the stairs i was convinced this is how i will travel in the future. It was worth it thank you fabio.
Georgie wins the first purchase a pair of shorts from Zara. More to come on that front.
