Told off in France part 2
I have been told off again.
Z and I went out for a drink and because we were leaving for London the next day I was trying to get rid of all of my coins when paying the bill. I started to count out my 1 and 2 euro cent pieces when the waiter came over and started saying ' no lady I don't accept them you must pay real money' i thought ill pay the bill but leave the copper as it was weighing down my purse. He chased me down the street yelling I told you lady no copper coins. I laughed z said cant you count we paid the right money the coins were a tip! I have never been yelled at for a tip.
In laudaree buying macaroons lots of decisions for the children to make. I was trying to get a final tally on quantities and which ones and was told by the man behind the counter to stop speaking and to listen to what he had to say. I was not happy and the kids got a free macaroon.
The final one was a real nail bitter. There has been a very grumpy man at the front desk at our hotel but today he decided to be my friend. He said he would order our taxis to take us to the train station gard de nord. We agreed on 10am. During the course of the morning we changed the time to 10.30 (even the youngest confirmed he heard me say 10.30). We went out for breakfast and upon our return he was frantic the 9.30 am taxis were here and you are not here and the meter is running. Z and eldest child were out doing final shopping so I said very politely. Sorry I said 10.30 we don't require those taxis we need them at the right time, besides my husband and daughter are not back yet so we can't leave. He said someone must pay and it must be you. I explained that it was not my fault. He suggested we go halves. I declined his generous offer. Needless to say the minute the others got back we had to leave the hotel and find our own taxi on the busy streets of Paris.
I'm not sure if I will be allowed back in this city/country. I hope so because I adore the theatrics and promise to learn more French upon my return. I will however not back down from an argument
