Signs
I love looking for signs when I travel. By signs I mean, Don't go there, please remove your shoes or don't feed the animals. A sign says a lot about a country. Even if you can't read it due to the language barrier it gives you a good insight into the nature of the people. In Italy the country of no rules. Its very hard to find any signs, you can ride a bike without a helmet, you can park your car anywhere it can fit and you are welcome to smoke anywhere and everywhere. I often wonder about the committee that was formed to decide on the sign and why is was needed in the first place. My favourite sign of all time, is in Disneyland. Disneyland is a complete bubble of happiness and a perfect world, where you smile all day long. Before you enter Disneyland you are greeted, with a WARNING that chemicals that are used at this hotel will cause cancer....but please have a nice day.......
My other favourite is Disneyland is the warnings before you go on rides. do you suffer from high blood pressure (yes) heart condition (possibly) - headaches (well Ive got one now) - then reconsider this ride. the problem with the Disneyland rides is that by the time you read these signs you are in the queue and often at a point of no return.... My favourite disneyland warning is that the restraints may not be suitable for all body shoes - a very polite way of saying it might be time to go on a diet....
When we left Disneyland we headed to Canda to a white snowy hinterland. Here the signs were mostly watch your step, and don't slip. We loved the one about not feeding the cartoon animal. It took us ages to figure out what that animal was????
Once again in New York, we were enjoying lunch at the Plaza Hotel in the food court where we saw this sign...I was enjoying my lunch until I started to think I could choke on my sandwich. Better wash it down with some wine!

This sign was telling us to go home as travel was not recommended....
A sign in central park in new york. If someone falls into the lake then throw them this ladder until help arrives. It's really saying don't go in yourself to rescue them because its too cold..if they were silly enough to fall in then leave them until a professional arrives...
This is the most memorable of all the signs. With heightened security its difficult to take anything, anywhere. Going to the statue of liberty where we went through numerous security screenings we were greeted with a sign that we were permitted to take through knives...it shows a picture of the type of knives that were allowed.
